Peer Review Process

Submitted manuscripts undergo peer review by three independent reviewers, in a “double blind” fashion, for relevancy, scientific accuracy and new provided knowledge in the field of Sports Medicine.

The review process is fulfilled six to eight weeks after the submission of the manuscript and the Editor-in-Chief notifies the decision letter to the authors.

All submitted papers are obliged to have original data, theoretical or experimental, and it is mandatory that have not yet been published elsewhere. The editor will firstly evaluate all papers utilizing the following qualitative criteria to decide about the manuscript's merit to start the peer-review process:

 1.      fulfillment of all norms,

 2.      clear relationship to the field of sports medicine

 3.      scientific value of the document.

If manuscripts are highly confused and poorly written the Editor immediately rejects them.

After this screening, the reviewers will further evaluate the manuscript content for its scientific quality according to the following parameters:

 1. Identified Problem (Have the authors clearly stated the purpose of this investigation?)

 2. Uniqueness of Study (Does this study contribute with anything that is significantly new?)

 3. Experimental Design (Have the authors used a valid approach to the problem?)

 4. Analytical Techniques (Are the methods used in this design valid and reliable?)

 5. Presentation of Results (Are the findings of this research clearly presented?)

 6. Clarity of Discussion (Have the authors incorporated previous research into their interpretation of the results?)

 7. Clarity of Figures (Are the data clearly illustrated? Are the figures necessary?)

 8. Clarity of Tables (Are the tables necessary? Are they easily understood?)

 9. Selection of References (Do the authors demonstrate a thorough understanding of previous research on this topic? Have they included all critical references?)

 10. Overall Rating (Regarding the article’s contribution to new knowledge in the field, how should it be rated?)

Publication Frequency

EUJSM will annually publish one volume, composed of two issues.
